Learn the key features of Northern Pacific Seastars, recognise common Victorian look-alikes and know what to do when identification is uncertain. Learn to recognise one of Port Phillip Bay's established marine pests. This short online course introduces the Northern Pacific Seastar (Asterias amurensis), explains why it is a concern in Port Phillip Bay, and teaches the key features used to distinguish it from native Victorian seastars. Participants will learn how to recognise NPS, distinguish common look-alikes, understand why accurate identification matters and know what to do when identification is uncertain.
